Knee arthrometers are medical devices designed to apply various movements on the tibia to measure the joints' motion. The movements are then analysed to determine the state of resistance of the various ligaments present in the knee.
The most commonly reported arthrometers in the literature for assessing knee joint motion are the GNRB® (Genourob S.A.S., Laval, France) & the KT-1000 (Med Metrics Corp. Inc., San Diego, California, USA). These arthrometers applied what we call an anterior tibial translation to measure the state of resistance of the anterior cruciate ligament.
Nowadays however, Genourob has pushed the boundaries of arthrometry by designing and marketing the Dyneelax knee laxity arthrometer, an arthrometer that is capable of applying both rotation and translation on the tibia to assess the various ligaments and ligamentous structures present in the knee.
DYNEELAX is a 4 in 1 device as it allows diagnosis, prevention, rehabilitation and follow-up of patients suffering from knee ligament injuries. It currently the most accurate & reproducible knee arthrometer regarding knee ligament assessment as it is the only one that is completely automated & computerised.
